De oproep voor een werkplaatsproject is open voor alle beeldende kunstenaars. Door de diversiteit van onze werkplaatsen is de oproep voor projecten in diverse media en disciplines. Projecten met aandacht voor artistieke arbeid, die de kunstenwerkplaats bevragen of projecten met een nadruk op experiment, hebben onze voorkeur. De werkperiode is 3 maanden fulltime of ongeveer 90 dagen verdeeld over verschillende periodes in 2017. FLACC biedt, naast technische, inhoudelijk en organisatorische begeleiding, de kunstenaars een accommodatie, een werkplaats, reiskostenvergoeding en een klein productie budget.

Aanvraagprocedure

Om een aanvraag in te dienen, vragen wij u om het aanvraagformulier en het excel sheet (vul het budget in) te gebruiken. De aanvraag moet bestaan uit een uitgebreid projectvoorstel, een nauwkeurig gecalculeerd budget, een (voorkeurs)werkperiode en C.V (in woord en beeld).

FLACC faciliteert in Genk jaarlijks 10 tot 15 kunstenaarsprojecten, op maat van de hedendaagse kunstenaarsrealiteit. De procesmatige trajecten ontvouwen zich los van enige presentatiedruk en zijn in de meeste gevallen gericht op de realisatie van nieuw werk. Centraal staan gelijkheid, samenwerking en ruimte voor experiment.

Elk jaar introduceert FLACC gerenommeerde en beloftevolle buitenlandse kunstenaars in het Belgische kunstenveld. Maar ook jonge kunstenaars en ervaren talent van eigen bodem krijgen steun, zelfs over de grenzen heen. Cruciale elementen in de FLACC-werkplaatsprojecten: theoretisch onderzoek, input van experts, praktische haalbaarheid en een aangepaste output in relatie tot de atelierarbeid, bijvoorbeeld door een bijdrage aan het kunstendiscours, publicatie of presentatie.

FLACC levert praktische, inhoudelijke en financiële bijstand en dat binnen een langdurige samenwerking waarbij de kunstenaar kan blijven rekenen op vergaande ondersteuning. Hij kan zich volledig en in alle concentratie wijden aan zijn project, waarvan de procesmatige totstandkoming, in samenwerking met FLACC, dikwijls even belangrijk is als het materiële resultaat zelf. FLACC stelt dat de realisatie soms ondergeschikt is aan theoretische verdieping, experiment of vernetwerking die de artistieke ontwikkeling van de kunstenaar ten goede komt.

FLACC beschikt over professioneel uitgeruste ateliers voor metaal- en houtbewerking, een digitale studio (film en fotografie) en een ovenatelier voor keramiek, brons en glastoepassingen. De organisatie is ook op de hoogte van de productiemogelijkheden van en werkt samen met naburige werkplaatsen, scholen en bedrijven om kunstenaars optimaal bij te staan. Call for Applications

Who: visual artists working in a variety of media and disciplines are invited to submit project proposals along the lines set out below.
Where: FLACC, Genk in Belgium
When: Three month period or around 90 days divided over several periods between February 2017 and December 2017

The call is open for all visual artists. Due to the diversity of our workshops, the application is open for projects in various media and disciplines. Projects with interest in artistic labour, challenging the notion of a 'workplace' or with a focus on experiment are preferable. The work period is three-month full time or around 90 days, divided in several smaller work periods between February and December 2017. FLACC offers an accommodation, a workplace, covered travel expenses as well as a small production budget.

Please use our application form and excel sheet (fill in required budget) to apply. The application should include a well-defined project proposal, a thoroughly calculated budget, a preferable time frame and your résumé (text and images and/or video).

Every year, FLACC facilitates the realisation of 10 to 15 artists' projects in Genk, in tune with the contemporary context of art making. The process-based projects are developed independently of any need for presentation, and are in most cases aimed at the realization of new work. Core concepts here are equality, cooperation, and space for experimentation.

Every year, FLACC introduces renowned and promising foreign artists into the Belgian artistic landscape. But young talent and experienced Belgian artists are also supported, even across borders. Crucial elements in the FLACC workplace projects are: theoretical research, input from experts, practical feasibility, and an output in relation with the studio labour, for example by contributing to the art discourse, a publication or a presentation.

FLACC provides practical, material and financial assistance through extended collaborations with artists. The selected artists can, in this way, count on an extensive level of long term support. They can fully concentrate on their projects, whose process-driven realisation, worked out in collaboration with FLACC, is often just as important as the physical result itself. FLACC suggests that this realization is sometimes even secondary to the deployment of activities which can aid the artistic development of the artist, such as theoretical deepening, experimentation and networking.

FLACC has metal and woodworking workshops, a digital studio (film and photography), and a foundry with a furnace and kilns for ceramics, bronze and glass applications, and an extensive workspace. The staff is knowledgeable about the production possibilities of nearby workplaces and collaborates with those workplaces and with schools and companies to give the artists the best possible support and assistance.
