The Kinderkunstenfabriek is an annually recurring social and artistic project, in which children come into contact with art through the participation of professional artists. Every year, we invite 8 to 10 professional artists who, for one week (during the Easter holidays), set to work every day with 100 children aged 8 to 12 years. In a series of workshops, the artists and the children elaborate ideas and ultimately create a work of art together. The children get to know ‘real artists’ and become acquainted with their way of working and thinking; together they make something, talk to each other, and play with each other. Central to this project is the artistic process and the gradual working towards an artistic output. Each of the eight artists developed their own workshop. After a two-day introduction, the children chose their workshop for the rest of the week.
