'le bon patron fait le bon ouvrier' (André Dumont)
Running simultaneously was a documentary exhibition, Cité-Jardin, 'Le bon patron fait le bon ouvrier' (André Dumont) about the extraordinary architecture of the garden suburb attached to the mine in Waterschei. The photographic section of the exhibition, images of mine architecture taken by Martin Kadar in 1941, were juxtaposed with a new photographic interpretation by Tom Frederiks and Guy Dupont, two young photographers from Limburg. The second section provided the impetus for research into the work of architect Gaston Voutquenne, who was employed by the André Dumont coal mine from1912 to1940, and into the importance of this striking architectural heritage.
