FLAC© organized its first [image forum]. This event evolved from the former twice-yearly International Seminar on Photography, but this time it incorporated other media arts. Hence the new name: image in the broadest sense. With this project we were looking to make a contribution to the development of artistic photography and other media applications in Belgium.

The theme of this first edition was 'the local’, to be interpreted as a critical questioning of the term. Rather than illustrative images, we showed confrontational and revealing images, images which have the power of critical statements or of intensely lived experiences. Traditionally the project has consisted of exhibitions and master-classes, but this time a symposium and a film programme were added.
