Áine McBride
Áine McBride is a visual artist based in Dublin, Ireland. Her work produces sculptural and photographic elements. Works formally reference domestic, urban, and commercial motifs and imagery via an abstraction. Employed is often a range of typically mundane materials: sheet timber, tile, cast concrete, steel. Their employment adopt an aesthetic of seeming unfixed; the works appear modular, capable of being rearranged and harness a tone of provisionality and potentiality. The work produced is nebulous and ambiguous by construction.
At FLACC she will continue ongoing work and develop new forms in the metal and ceramic workshop . This will culminate in a body of work that considers material and architectural form in relation to (a notion of) landscape/site.
Mc Bride graduated with a BA in Fine Art Sculpture and Visual Culture in 2016 (NCAD, Dublin) and with a BEng in Structural Engineering in 2010 (DIT, Dublin).
