Sven Augustijnen (BE, 1970) studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, the Higher Institute Sint-Lukas in Brussels and at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. His work is articulated primarily in and around the tradition of portraiture and the porous border between reality and fiction, using the ambiguity of genre and technique, resulting in a feeling of disorientation. His films have been included in exhibitions and festivals in Athens, Basel, Fribourg, San Les Demoiselles de Bruxelles, installation, photographs & publication
Sebastian, Siegen, Rotterdam, Tunis, Tel Aviv, Tokyo and Vilnius. In 2007 he took part in the Documenta 12 magazine project, in collaboration with A Prior Magazine. He was awarded the Evens Prize for Visual Arts 2011. He lives and works in Brussels.
