Transit’s main objective is to source new talent in Moving Art and to offer promising young artists suitable development and presentation opportunities at European level to facilitate their transition to the professional art world.

Transit builds on a network of ten art academies - all firm believers in the importance of Moving Art - in six European countries. Together they form the basis of a European network for young talent, thereby creating opportunities for transnational mobility for a large number of young artists and artworks.

The theme is Moving Art as a Witness (as an individual memory of past events, as a personal observer of and commentator on things happening now, as a visionary of future developments). The project follows a two-year plan, which gives students the chance to develop their talent and then exhibit the fruits of their labours. Each academy put forward six students. A short-list of six was then drawn up and those six were allocated a work period at FLACC. The work of these six students will be shown alongside that of some twenty others at the EMAF (DE) and Vidéoformes (FR) festivals.

In 2010 and 2011 the students worked on their project at FLACC. During that time discussions were arranged with artists, curators, critics, etc. in a bid to extend the students’ network of contacts and put them in touch with various players in the art world.
