Central to the work of Lara Almarcegui is the fascination with spaces that escape the design of architects and urban planners - urban planning - such as vacant lots, demolition and residential allotments. For FLACC Almarcegui analyzed for a domain in Genk that will remain untouched in the coming years . This area - even when most others have long been re-built - remains a place for imagination and accessible to the viewer. Here, nature's own way fri, affected only by wind, rain, sun, plants, spontaneous use and surrounding residues. The existence of a piece of land to which no design has come to pass.
The project "Braakliggend terrein in Genk' is the second in a series of vacant lots. The first is located in the port of Rotterdam and the third is foreseen in Le Havre.
